The Qianlong era was officially from 11 October 1735 to 8 February 1796. Seal marks are often written in iron-red or gilt as well as underglaze blue and they can also be incised, stamped or moulded in relief. It is not always possible to date antiques from this era with marks alone, as many Chinese marks were often used to honour the Emperors in later wares.
